When you’re cooking jasmine rice, the water ratio is kind of the most important question. Do it right, and you’ll get perfect fluffy rice. Do it wrong, and your rice will turn out either hard or mushy.
Unfortunately there are a lot of different data on the internet when you try to find the answer to the right jasmine rice water ratio. But I think this is not something we shouldn’t be surprised at, finding contradictory data online. I even found some recipes where they suggest to use double quantity, which I definitely wouldn’t advise you to try.
The Right Jasmine Rice Water ratio
If you follow my suggestions on how to cook jasmine rice in a pot, you’ll see that your rice will turn out just perfect every time. There I advise you to use the same quantity of water as rice.
Therefore the right ratio for jasmine rice and water is 1:1.
It is important to note that this ratio is by volume, and you should measure your rice dry, before washing it.
As 1 cup of jasmine rice weighs 200 grams and 1 cup of water weighs 240 grams, the weight ratio is 5:6. So practically for every 50 grams of dry jasmine rice you need to use 60 grams of water.
Try this ratio, follow my instructions on how to cook jasmine rice, and you’ll get perfect fluffy results every time!
